FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What types of clients do you work with?
We work with individuals, families, business owners, closely held businesses, professionals, real estate investors, and clients with multiple entities whose financial circumstances benefit from a coordinated approach beyond transactional tax compliance.
How does an advisory relationship begin?
Most relationships begin with an initial conversation to understand your circumstances, priorities, and objectives. From there, we consider where MPA can provide meaningful value and whether our approach is well suited to your needs.
How long does a typical engagement last?
MPA is structured around long-term client relationships rather than one-time engagements. Our work is designed to provide continuity and evolve as our clients' businesses, families, and financial circumstances change over time.
Do you work with clients outside California?
Yes. MPA serves clients nationwide and works with individuals, families, and businesses across the country through a relationship-driven advisory model.
What services does MPA provide?
Our services include tax advisory and compliance, strategic tax planning, investment coordination and cash management, trust and estate coordination, transaction and opportunity analysis, family enterprise advisory, and multi-generational planning. When appropriate, we also work closely with our clients' legal counsel, investment professionals, insurance professionals, and other trusted advisors.
Can advisory services be tailored to my circumstances?
Yes. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Each relationship is structured around the client's circumstances, priorities, and evolving needs. MPA intentionally maintains a limited number of client relationships to preserve responsiveness, continuity, and depth of engagement.
Does MPA manage investments?
No. Mistretta Private Advisory does not provide investment management services. Our role is to consider investment and liquidity matters within the broader context of tax and strategic planning and, when appropriate, coordinate with the client's investment professionals.
How does pricing work?
Fees are determined based on the scope, complexity, and nature of the relationship and the services required. Because engagements are tailored to each client, pricing is discussed as part of the engagement process rather than presented through standardized service packages.
Can I engage MPA for select services?
Yes. Engagements can be tailored to specific needs and circumstances. While clients may engage MPA for select services, our advice is often most effective when we understand the broader financial picture and can consider how tax, business, estate, and other planning decisions may intersect.
